Luxuriously converted former Railway Station Building

Hassendean Station Denholm near Jedburgh in Roxburghshire Scottish Borders TD9 8PX

In the heart of the lovely Scottish Borders Countryside, only an hour away from Edinburgh/Carlisle/Newcastle, lies Hassendean Railway Station on the famous Waverley Route. The Station axed by Dr Beeching, abandoned and derelict but now saved and carefully restored by architectural designer Tom Pyemont and his late wife Anne Marie. And recently awarded a Highly Commended Certificate for the Renovation by National Heritage Railway Awards.

The Loading Bay is separated from the Pyemont’s home – Hassendean Station building, by the only surviving Victorian Timber Footbridge. The Loading Bay has its own graveled driveway, where an imaginative cycle shed has been built from railway sleepers with a grass roof, and three secure gardens one of which is the lawned over former railway track.

Things to do: locally there are many places of interest, Abbeys of Jedburgh, Melrose, Dryburgh and Kelso – Historic houses of Mellerstain, Floors Castle, Abbotsford and Bowhill, Mary Queen of Scots at Jedburgh.
Golf courses abound right across The Borders in every Town. Only a mile away in the local village of Minto there is an 18 hole Golf Course. In the other nearby village of Denholm, there is an Antiques Showroom, an Italian Bistro, Coffee Shop, 2 Pubs, Village Shop-Post Office, Butcher, Hairdresser and a Garage with Petrol.
Cyclists and walkers are well catered for with the close by Cheviot + Eildon Hills, Southern Upland + Abbey Ways, Scott’s View, with good walking from the front door to the Minto Hills and Rubers Law.
Salmon + Trout Fishing can be had on the nearby rivers Tweed + Teviot. Additionally there are local lochs and the Fly Fishery at Lilliesleaf for brown/rainbow trout.
The Rugby Sevens  in the Spring and the Common Ridings, Edinburgh Festival + Tattoo throughout the summer.
Horse Riding/Music Festivals/Theatres.

The newly-reopened Edinburgh to (Tweedbank) Galashiels Border Railway makes train trips to Edinburgh a possibility.
